Uni Tübingen an Bord des Peace Boat
Summary of the questions asked during the workshop “Dealing with the Past”.
On the last night, around 50 people gathered to ask questions to the german participants. The interest was extremely high. The workshop, which lasted 2 hours, could have be at least twice as long. The discussion continued until late in the night… Here is a list of some of the questions:
How strong is peace education in Germany? How influential is fascism today? If Hitler would not have existed, would the second world war occured? Did people in East and West Germany deal with their violent past the same way? How do you feel about German soldiers who died in other countries? How is the relationship between French and German people nowaday? Considering their violent past, are Germans less or more likely to use weapons than citizens coming from countries without a violent past? Are the one who ignored the concentration camps innocent? What are the difference of responsibilities between victorious and defeated countries? How many people are still being judged in Germany today? How can people prevent war?

1 | 2 | 3 | 4In diesem Blog berichten Studierende der Uni Tübingen über die Peace Boat Exkursion 2009. Vom 2. bis 10.10. reisen wir von Izmir (Türkei) über Piräus/Athen (Griechenland), Dubrovnik (Kroatien) nach Civitavecchia/Rom (Italien). Im Rahmen von Workshops und Präsentationen an Bord und während der Landgänge behandeln wir folgende Themen: Vergangenheitsbewältigung, die Kriege in Ex-Jugoslawien, den griechisch-türkischen Konflikt, politischer Islam, etc.
Dieser Blog erfährt Aktualisierungen so wie es uns möglich ist in den Hafenstädten oder über die Satelitenverbindung des Schiffs neue Beiträge online zu stellen.
Die Studienfahrt wird auch in diesem Jahr aus Mitteln der Fakultät für Sozial- und Verhaltenswissenschaften und des Unibundes der Universität Tübingen bezuschusst.
